 FORM FOUR LITERATURE IN ENGLISH Course Description: Form Four Literature in English is an advanced level course designed to enhance students' understanding and appreciation of various literary genres, including poetry, drama, and prose. Through the analysis of literary texts, students will develop critical thinking skills, improve their language proficiency, and gain insights into different cultural perspectives. This course aims to foster a deep appreciation for literature and its role in shaping societies. Course Objectives: 1. To familiarize students with the major literary genres and their characteristics. 2. To develop students' ability to analyze and interpret literary texts. 3. To enhance students' critical thinking and analytical skills through literary analysis. 4. To improve students' language proficiency, including reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills. 5. Course Description

Form Four Literature in English course is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of various literary works. Through the analysis of novels, plays, poems, and other literary forms, students will develop critical thinking skills, enhance their reading comprehension, and gain a deeper appreciation for the power of literature. This course aims to foster a love for English literature while equipping students with the necessary tools to analyze and interpret texts effectively.

Course Outcomes

Form Four Literature in English course is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding and appreciation of English literature. Through the exploration of various literary works, students will develop critical thinking skills, enhance their analytical abilities, and deepen their understanding of different cultures and perspectives. II. Learning Objectives: By the end of this course, students will be able to: 1. Analyze and interpret various forms of literature, including poetry, drama, and prose. 2. Identify and analyze literary devices and techniques used by authors. 3. Understand the historical, cultural, and social contexts of literary works. 4. Develop effective reading and comprehension skills. 5. Express their interpretations and opinions on literature through oral and written communication. III. Course Content: 1. Introduction to Literature: a. Definition and elements of literature. b. Importance and relevance of studying literature. c. Literary genres and their characteristics. 2. Poetry Analysis: a. Understanding poetic devices and techniques. b. Analyzing different forms of poetry, including sonnets, ballads, and free verse. c. Interpretation and critical analysis of selected poems. 3. Drama Study: a. Introduction to dramatic elements and conventions. b. Analyzing selected plays, including tragedies, comedies, and modern dramas. c. Exploring themes and character development in plays. 4. Prose Exploration: a. Understanding narrative techniques and styles. b. Analysis of short stories and novels. c. Examining themes, plot structures, and characterizations in prose works. 5. Literary Criticism: a. Introduction to different approaches to literary criticism. b. Analyzing and evaluating literary works using critical theories. c. Developing critical thinking skills through literary analysis. 6. Contextual Studies: a. Understanding the historical, cultural, and social contexts of literary works. b. Exploring the influence of different time periods and cultures on literature. c.
