Course Requirements

This course aims to develop the English language skills of pupils at the primary level. It focuses on enhancing their reading, writing, listening, and speaking abilities, while also fostering their comprehension and communication skills. Through a variety of engaging activities and exercises, students will be encouraged to actively participate in language learning, building a strong foundation in English. Course Objectives: 1. Improve listening skills: Students will be exposed to various listening exercises, such as audio recordings and oral instructions. They will learn to comprehend spoken English, identify important information, and follow instructions accurately. 4. Foster speaking skills: Students will be encouraged to actively participate in discussions, presentations, and role-plays. They will develop their oral communication skills, including pronunciation, fluency, and vocabulary usage. Emphasis will be placed on expressing ideas clearly and confidently. 5. Enhance comprehension skills: Students will practice comprehension strategies to understand both written and spoken English. They will learn to identify main ideas, make inferences, and draw conclusions from different types of texts. Course Description

Primary 1 English Language course is designed to provide a solid foundation in English language skills for pupils at the primary level. This course focuses on developing essential language skills such as reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Through engaging activities and interactive lessons, pupils will enhance their vocabulary, grammar, and comprehension abilities. Our experienced teachers ensure a professional learning environment that fosters language proficiency and confidence in primary school pupils. Course Outcomes

  1. Reading Skills: Pupils should be able to read a variety of texts suitable for their age level with understanding. This includes decoding words, understanding sentence structure, and comprehending narratives and informational texts.

  2. Writing Skills: Pupils should be able to express their ideas clearly in writing, using appropriate sentence structures, grammar, and vocabulary. They should be able to write narratives, descriptions, and simple reports.

  3. Speaking Skills: Pupils should be able to participate in conversations, ask and answer questions, give simple presentations, and articulate their thoughts and ideas clearly.

  4. Listening Skills: Pupils should be able to listen and respond to spoken language including instructions, stories, and information. They should also be able to follow classroom discussions and demonstrate understanding.

  5. Grammar and Vocabulary: Pupils should have a good grasp of basic English grammar and a sufficient vocabulary to express themselves and understand others in both written and spoken language.

  6. Pronunciation: Pupils should be able to pronounce words clearly enough to be understood by others, although some accent or influence from their native language might still be present.

  7. Cultural Awareness: Pupils might be expected to have a basic understanding of cultures where English is spoken and to be able to compare them with their own.
